Snare Drums

All snare drums are made from our patented raw brass shells, lugs, and hardware and come with Remo Ambassador heads.

For our brass shells, we cut, roll, weld and sand them, then treat them with our patented oxidizing formula to jump start the patina process.  Shells weigh any where from 7-14 pounds depending on size of the drum and the edge is a 45 degree cut with a 3.5” snare bed.

All A&F Snare Drums are handmade in Austin by local drummers and artisans using locally sourced and exotic materials. Included on each snare are round, center-mounted brass lugs; rolled brass hoops, leather washers, vintage style clips and Remo Ambassador drumheads. The A&F production method comes directly from the early 1900’s with inspiration from metal drums dating back to the 1300’s. The Snare Drum shells are hand cut, rolled, welded, and sanded. The bearing edges and snare bed are hand cut and filed. We then treat them with our natural and exclusive patina process to kick start the aging process. Once assembled, our wooden and metal Snare Drums  weigh on average between 7-14 pounds.

We offer our wooden snares in diameters from 6”-28” and depths from  1.5”-18”. Our Metal drums on the other hand, the sky's the limit when it comes to size. We offer A&F choice sizes including the 3" deep Rude Boy series snares, the 4x18 Gunshot Snare Drum, the 1.5" deep Pancake snares, and the world's biggest snare drum at 6”x28”!!!

Our select series includes the “Elite”, available in royal brass or copper which comes with ¾” Walnut or Mahogany mini hoops and A&F exclusive hand engraved shells.

Our Mahogany Club shells are made from our very thin 7-ply mahogany/poplar combination with NO re-rings or an inside edge, our exclusive reverse baseball style outside edge, our patented Raw Brass lugs, and the option of Mahogany or Raw Brass Hoops.

Our Field Snare Drums are made with our exclusive thin 7-ply maple/poplar combination shell with NO re-rings or an inside edge, our exclusive reverse baseball style outside edge, our patented Raw Brass lugs, high wood hoops, and raw brass hardware.

Our Mahogany Club Snare Drum is made from our very thin 7-ply mahogany/poplar combination with NO re-rings or an inside edge, our exclusive reverse baseball style outside edge, our patented Raw Brass lugs, and the option of Mahogany or Raw Brass Hoops.

Color Finishes on wood Snare Drums include Antique Red, Antique White, Matte Black, Whiskey Maple, Espresso Maple, and Clear.
